After doing simple line drawings with stitch in response to my research I felt I needed to add another dimension to my work, somthing that wasnt so simple but a bit more tactille. Thats when I started to look more at creating a depth and texture in my work. I began concentrating on things such as the idea of the crumbling paint exposing another layer underneath, this led to me experimenting with other materials and the sense of layering and using a variety of techniques that create different textures.
Here is an experiment with the notion of exposing the paint. I brought a little blue into the palette as the image I was working off gave off a pale blue tone.
Here I cut a hole through some calico and used some organza as an exposed fabric underneath, I then used some free hand embroidery to draw a representation of the edging of the paint.
