After looking at more fabric manipulation I have started experimenting with more structural techniques to creating more texture and depth to my samples.
This first sample I printed onto organza and the shimmer of the fabric created a lovely glittery effect when bunched together. By using simple stitches I just stitched the fabric in such a way it creates this bubble like effect. I really like the effect it has, however I think maybe it could have worked better on a more subtle or plain background so you can really appreciate the intricate colours coming through the organza.
After the first sample on the detailed print I decided to have a go at a larger scale sample using a similar technique but on a plain fabric, this was to emphasize the detailed colour and texture of the manipulation. I was really pleased with this experiment and feel the plain background is actually much more effective with just a simple detail on top like this.
This is another sample using the same technique but a much smaller scale and in a very different colour scheme. the idea was to see if the plain manipulation on a patterned background would create something much easier on the eye. I feel these colours work nicely together as there isnt too much going on.
