Learning Techniques

After the first few samples I decided to look at different sorts of techniques and embroidery I could experiment with to create a broader selection of samples. So far I have used very basic machine and embroidery stitches and wish to expand on my knowledge. First of all I've seen a lot of french knots about lately and Ive never been able to figure out how to do them, so I made myself sit down and learn how to do them. They have always looked really appealing from the beautiful delicate patterns and textures they create.
I then took inspiration from this to create my own sample and I definitely think Ill be using them from now on in my samples

This is an artist called Hariett Riddel. She uses hand embroidery to create her pieces in a very unique way.
She uses long thread stitches to draw onto her fabric. I really liked this idea as it can create a very relaxed and simple look. Although she has written with her stitch in this sample it is a good example of how she uses stitch differently.
